"Trash, trash, trash, trash, trash."

Trash Book Month was, I think, a success. However, it did go out with a bit of a whimper. What happened? Well, I have two more unedited posts on Backstage Passes that are sprawling and a bit confused and don't even cover the pool exorcism. I've decided to post neither "Angie Part II: Be My Wife" nor "Angie Part III: It's Not the Side Effects of the Cocaine" and instead to initiate a series in which I will occasionally post a random story from Angie. I don't really know what to call it yet. My other series will be From the Stacks, in which I post strange book titles that I come across.

Also, someone else just wrote a piece on Backstage Passes. NOT WORK SAFE: Onion AV Club Review

A few words about the other trashy books: Easy Rider.... was informative and engaging though primarily focused on ego maniacal, testosterone-fuelled misogynists with emotional and psychological issues. These people also happen to be among the most admired directors of the 70s. Deceived With Kindness was a disappointment, full of dull, almost grim vaguely Freudian self-analysis. It also reminded me of My Secret Life. They have nothing in common, so maybe it's Angelica's old-fashioned style and sensibility.

Finally I have yet another blog project. I have obtained the newish Oxford Middleton (from the library). I'm hoping to read at least half of its 2018 pages. So, this blog with definitely have occasional pieces on the plays of Thomas Middleton. I'm excited.
